Vinegar is a great dressing for salad but can be a hazard to grout. Grout is made of of sand and cement, and the acidity of the vinegar can slowly dissolve the cement if used regularly to clean your tile floors. Maybe your grout is looking soiled perhaps bleaching will help? Bleach is great for keeping your undershirts white but not good for grout, over time it can dissolve sealants allowing your grout to stain. What about 98% natural Murphy’s oil soap. It get’s along great with wood but when it’s left in your grout it repels any sealants you may want to apply later on.
What’s the best detergent for regular tile and grout cleaning? Try to use genetically modified chemicals designed by science, like spic and span or mr. clean, believe it or not these alkaline based cleaners are preferable to many others. Better yet visit your local janitorial store and ask for a tile and stone cleaner designed specifically for the task at hand. If you still prefer to use a more natural substitute remember the immemorial words of famed film director Werner Herzog, “We must never forget, nature is trying to kill us.”
